Achtung! Achtung!
Never judge the silent exterior this dude carries. Once known, his personality explodes in a myriad of colours. Besides his love for design; he loves his friends to the core. Plight of an only child. Unfortunately, sometimes he is taken for granted because he's a damn wuss for friendship. Oh well.
It doesn't stop at a simple hello. Sometimes the finger stiffens, the mind widens. Hello journalife.

I clearly remember last year, when Project Hope was being televised because of the Sumatran national disaster. I was still involved pretty much with Singapore Idol then and we were given this project at the extreme last minute of it all.
When it’s for charity, there was no second thoughts or so despite the hectic schedule we were given but it was all good, to do your bit. Definitely, Project Hope 2009, was quite a memorable for me and together with Idols of 2009 alike. A joint venture together almost 100 artistes for various channels and ethnic groups working hand in hand to lend a helping hand. Whats more, through a music event like this where music is the international language of love.
Here’s a video of last year’s Singapore Idol 2009 performance for Project Hope 2009. Singing, our fellow Asian Idol 2007, Hady Mirza’s winning number, You Gave Me Wings.
This year, Project Hope 2010 is back and definitely for a good cause, to cater to the needs to the recent Mount Merapi, Tsunami of Mentawai and Western Sumatra disasters that just occurred.
The recent tsunami happened on 25 October 2010 in Mentawai, Western Sumatra. The disaster was triggered by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake near a chain of remote islands off western Sumatra. As of now, the official death toll touched 450, with 96 others missing, feared dead. The rescuers have managed to discover 135 persons, found sheltering on high ground and too scared to return to their ravaged villages. However, the immediate efforts are now focused on supplying food and evacuating injured victims of the natural disaster that displaced more than 22,000 persons.
Mount Merapi in Central Java erupted on 26 October 2010, a day after the western Sumatran Tsunami. Nearly 40 people have been killed since Mount Merapi began erupting last week. Last Saturday, 30 October 2010, saw another large eruption. Merapi has had 63 lava bursts and nine small gas emissions to date.To date, more than 53,000 people have been evacuated since the eruptions began last Tuesday.
Project Hope hopes to be part of the ongoing relief efforts being run in Singapore, together with NGO, Mercy Relief and contribute to the rebuilding of lives of these victims.
This year yet again, comprising of various artistes around with performances from Singapore; Taufik Batisah, Sylvia Ratonel, Roberto Fernando and Gabrielle Ferdinands.Friends from Indonesia we have, Angel and Petra Sihombing and from Malaysia we have Tomok and Ayu. Hosted by Khairuddin Saharom and Othelli Edwards

Let’s work together hand in hand, as we help those in need. With that, i end this post with the theme song for Project Hope, Hands United :)
Oh this is a post that i should have written like two weeks back! Hey, don’t be angry with me because of the lack of entries alright, i’ve already apologised hor. hurr. Anyway, ANUGERAHITZ.SG; boy that was one helluva night! A night to remember that’s for sure, especially for the local Malay music industry. The theme for the event was Rock-Nation, i’m all about dressing up for any themed event but hey; I AM NO ROCKER MAN!
I stood for a good 5 minutes starring into my open wardrobe, scanning around for anything rocker related. Besides the same stereotype of you gotta be black to be rock things out, i decided to follow the notion as i put on a black military jacket. HOW original -.-
I brought Shenthy Feliziana (a.k.a Elly) and Setia Vegawati (a.k.a Vega) from Cinta Ixora along for the night. These beautiful ladies sure did blew me away with their looks and their intrepretation of Rock-Nation. As i look at myself, i’m a piece of rag that’s for sure haha.
Anyway, as i was invited down for the red-carpet event i did my job as part of the media, though still new with this whole opportunity cum industry given to me, i took a shy step back and witness how the professional media work including, PujanggaMalam.com and Izone.sg work. I can’t thank Mediacorp Suria enough for the endless opportunity, really.
It was uber interesting, Singapore Idol was different but i’m still getting used to it. Besides the mingling and whats not, i captured a few shots with my trusty Canon. Well, nothing to rave about hey, i like random shots alright.
The theatre was packed with fans, screaming fans. The screaming fans made me reminisce those good Singapore Idol live shows. Aww, boy it was all good. I was a nervouse wreck for the nominees that night especially for the duo, Sleeq. I kept telling Elly, that i hope the duo wins an award like over and over again haha. Trust me, i sounded even broken than a broken record. I was hoping and praying that the brother would an award. I know his duo(Sleeq) will somehow clinch at least one award that night. I’ve got faith in them.
The trophy was specially designed by Meyvi Wedelia, 20, a Year 3 Visual Communication student from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. The design symbolized reverberation - a reflection of sound and echo that signified the awards show’s fluid music expression.
I personally think the trophy looks, rather questionable. Yes, kudos to the designer for her hardwork but i think everyone has an opinion. I thought the trophy would be somewhere along the lines of prestige and honourable, getting reviews from the public, the trophy looks bulky and unfortunately cheap.
For example, i thought it would be made from crystal or maybe polished metal. The ergonomics of the butterfly looking trophy looked rather big for the handler to actually manoeuvre around it, but i guess that’s why it’s rather light weight. The designer nailed it with the concept, but maybe execution wise comes into the situation. Trust me, i’ve been there and done that. Oh well.
They made the opening rather happening with the emcee’s entering riding the Harley’s. The opening number as well was good “Live” because it did capture the atmosphere against the screaming fans but upon watching on tv, there were slight flaws. Here’s a video of it, try to spot a particular awkward silence because one of the artistes forgot the lyrics or so?
The opening number.
In all the night went to Taufik Batisah. He bagged 6 awards. Greedy much? HAHAHA, he is like the Siti Nurhaliza of Singapore. Just like the fellow Dato’, you throw them into any competiton, they’ll reach the finishing line first. Well, you can’t blame them, they are that good.
I was slightly confused with the nominees for Best New Duo/Group and Best Duo/Group. Revalina got nominated in both? I got nothing against Revaline, but that’s quite a weird categorising entry, Revalina won for the first category and the latter goes to Sleeq. Hey, i was a happy kid alright, uber happy!
Oh oh, we public love to see bloopers don’t we!? How about the one where Elfee Ismail took a peep at his palm while singing. I say, lyrics recap on live stage? HEHE. You guys won’t be able to see all these bloopers on the repeat last Friday but, this video shows it all! I is evil, i know but bloopers make such shows even much more interesting to watch! Hehe.
Elfee Ismail’s performance.
I thought Sleeq could win the 3rd spot for Top 3 Popular Artistes, they were in the Top 3 until the last minute. ARGH ARGH ARGH. They shouldn’t have show the charts! Quite a bummer but oh well, the show had to go on. Trust me, the crowd were particularly disappointed they didn’t made it to the top 3 alright. I received rants of disagreement via twitter and text messages. Well, these things are just unpredictable.
Like i told my brother, “So what if my votes went to waste, bro what we’ve got is priceless and i am damn proud of you and Alif for making it this far. Without a doubt, i’ll support ya still :)”
Here are the results for the night!
I loved the fact that Eiss and Nana sang the nominees for the Best Category. The power vocals of the sexes really proves them that they are not just singers, but they are vocalists of extreme calibre. Their performance gave me goosebumps besides the head-banging performance of Hanafi Warren and company that night. I was ultra happy to watch Sezairi Sezali perform. It’s been a while since Idol and looking at where he is now, proud for you dude sincerely :)
Sezairi’s performance that night.
In all, the show to me was pretty dope, the excitement and all. Nothing beats watching a “Live’ show. You could feel the atmosphere in the theater and the vibes. The award show then, clashed with a much anticipated soccer match, between Chelsea and Manchester United. Which unfortunately, to those Man. U. fans; they lost 2-1 to Chelsea. Quite shocking i say, and this is a random update of soccer amongst all of my entry. I didn’t like the repeat telecast because it was way edited too much, and the rush of it seemed rather anti-climatic =/
ANYWAY. When Rahimah Rahim was announced the Prime Lifetime Award recipient, it was nostalgic and brought a tear to many eyes. She’s a distinguished contributor to the industry who has made her mark with her outstanding local and overseas achievements. Sarah Aqilah sang her evergreen hit, Hati Yang Rapuh (Fragile Heart). She rightfully deserves the award without any doubt.
YOU GO KAK GIRL!
Rahimah Rahim’s thank you speech.
THE POST-RECEPTION (pictures galore yo!)
Whoah, the reception was packed to the core and there were camera flashes almost everywhere. Yes yes, i was part of the whole calamity of flashes haha but i didn’t stay long because i wanted to meet MJ Kuok! Yeah, the brother from San Frans is in town for a bit! I didn’t want to leave Elly and Vega, so i brought them along :) SUPPER AT SWENSEN’S YO, and of course an appearance by our Singapore Idol, Sezairi Sezali! Hoho!
I swear, Elly’s mind games were intriguing enough to cause a blonde moment between MJ and Sezairi. Not forgetting, MJ’s attempt to make us smile and frown at the same time. Making us look horribly constipated and yes Elly, i will upload that video of you interviewing Sezairi. Of course much to our private viewing only HAHAHAHA =P
The night definely hits a high note with the revelation of award winners and upbeat performers by local singers and musicians (heh, i copy this off from the media brief hurhur). The inaugural award shows just level up the bar of competency and excellence for the local Malay music industry. The passion these local singers and musicians have in them are to be mentioned no matter what.
They created the vibrancy that it is now and finally an effort to honour them. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Win or loose, it doesn’t matter because you are part of the this colourful chapter in the history of local music.
To the aspiring musicians and singers, the future is bright. Singapore is definitely ready to embrace the sounds of Singapore in any genre. You’d never know maybe, we might be able to garner a Grammy or two in the future.

A little mention to the best friend;
Syarif brothaaa! You did me proud and alot of others that’s for sure! Com’on, it’s ok for not winning any spot from the most Popular Artistes. You’ve got fans that love you guys, loved ones and of course friends. Votes are nothing compared to what you guys established. By far, i am uber proud of you and Alif; of course Sleeq :)
The ever so famous Suria teen-drama ended in late March. If you don’t know what show i’m talking about, it’s Cinta Ixora. Yes this is another entry way due. Sorry la, better late than never right? Heh.
It’s kinda sad the show has to end within a period of 5 weeks. As old as i am, i do look forward to watch the show every weekend, of course to capture the brother’s acting and the pretty-much-at-times teenage drama that i might have been missing during my juvenile years, well some of the drama that is.
The music video of that show shot up to almost 35,000 viewers within a period of a week. I say, that is quite an achievement. The countless times you tumblr-ians reblogged the song i posted shows how much you guys loved the show aye. Though the show lasted only for 10 episodes, people are still talking about it until now and they leave the dramatic part of the show to it’s last. Especially one particular scene, to me at least.
Yes, there were deaths, fire scenes and much more, as dramatic hoo-haa it sounds i find this particular scene even more dramatic personally. It’s more off a summary of how melodramatic life can be.
For those that watched the show, remember the part where Zana (Shenthy Feliziana) received a letter from Shah Hafiz’s (Herizal) lawyer. Yes, where Shah Hafiz (honestly i have no idea how old is he in the show) died in a tragic accident. I swear, well my jaw didn’t drop, but i just jolted heavily in a, “WHAT THE HELL” moment.
I mean com’on, that’s a little too much for a 17 year old to go through right? As though being an orphan wasn’t tough enough for her. Not forgetting, the death of her friend, Mel (Sarah Aqilah). Plus, the psychotic Kamal (Haizad) who is tormenting her to her wits end. She just came out from the hospital from the fire caused by Kamal, ya i know it seems all catastrophic fiascoes fall on her =/
There she is looking all vulnerable, with that letter in her hands handed by the lawyer; reminiscing the moments they had spent together (no not with the lawyer!). Why don’t go overboard with it, she should just like run out of the house and get bang by a car or something. It is seriously, tormenting to put a 17 year go through all that, but hey, if Zana doesn’t turn out to be a good wise owl when she grows up, i don’t know what will.
HAHA, that wasn’t an entry full of angst, i just feel so bad for 17 year old Zana man, like really do.
Ok that’s done for the dramatic part.
So from 5 girls and 4 guys, it’s down to 3 girls and 2 guys. Zana, Ella, Martina, Farhan and Daniel.
Oh Oh! Though Farhan (Syarif), gave the phrase “moving on” another meaning. He definitely moved on from Badrisya to Martina, rather fast yeah haha. Subtle, of course not portraying a flirtatious character because after all the brother is sort of the hero of the show (in my opinion that is). He comes equipped with a foul mouth at times (when he called Martina a slut well i just summarised it to slut heh), when he’s pissed or upset, but of course staying true to himself, he realises his mistakes and apologise. So yeah.
That’s the end for Cinta Ixora, and so i’ve heard the ratings are quite high; maybe there’s a season 2? You’d never know. Kudo’s to the cast and team :)
See ya’ll in another entry! Which is coming up shortly hurr.
“Cinta Ixora” had been going on for 4 episodes now. I know!, it’s that fast isn’t it. See, the issue with having back to back shows on two consecutive days, makes the show goes by even faster than you can think off and the next thing you know; IT’S OVER. The good thing is that, you don’t really have to wait long for the next episode to air that much.
Honestly, i have no clue what the hell does “Cinta Ixora” means. Do enlighten me anyone, if you do alright?
Anyhooo,
The show is pretty much a teen flick that revolves around 5 girls and 4 boys. Impressive much? I think it’s the current generation of “Bara”. Boy love girl, girl love boy, yada yada yada. Cliche much yeah but try to recall, when was the last time Suria had a teen flick? They’ve had Bubble Boys and Dikir Putri; well any show that still dons the ever so fashionable school uniform is considered way premature for a teen flick. Well, it might be a good family show; but hey, the characters of such shows are no where near of owning a car or a bike license. Let alone their own Prada! Heh.
“Cinta Ixora”, so the acting is pretty much so so, not all are fantastic but to mention some; Sarah Aqilah, Shenthy Feliziana and Syarif are given the thumbs by thyself. I’m not being biased just because i’m close with Syarif but it’s pretty much true, ask around. There are the “veterans” in the show that of course, brings the show to another level with their acting skills.
Well like, “Meteor Garden”, “Boys Over Flowers” (did i get the title right??), this show revolves around mainly the 5 girls below. Each and everyone with a distinct character of their own.
The show consists of teenage love affairs (i almost broke out singing that song), family matters and tertiary life. It’s interesting on how the characters came together. I was surprised that the sensitive issue of homosexuality came about in the show. Well, at least that made the show current. I won’t elaborate much about the storyline cause i wouldn’t want to burst your bubble, so you got to watch the show every weekend yeah! Heh.
Apparently this show got almost the entire virtual world (twitter and blogs) talking. By youngster nowadays though, raving and ranting about the show. The cast is pretty much good looking, i know it’s superficial but hey, this is where the marketing factor plays a part. Faizal Isa, Syarif Sleeq and Haizad Imram make the girls go gaga everytime they appear on screen. I swear, i can hear squeals and giggles through my god damn concrete wall everytime these guys come on. Oh well, the girls on the show are a bunch of lookers as well! Well, personally, i wouldn’t say i’m a huge die hard fan of the show but i enjoy watching it because it made me reminisce those good old teenage days. Puppy love, com’on let’s all go “awwww”.
Anyway, below are pictures of them taken during Suria Elektra and Suria Fiesta. Photo credits belong to the respective owners.
I told you the cast is pretty much a LOOKER lol.
BY THE WAY; a little note: Shenthy Feliziana aka Zana, does not wear the scarf in real life. Do not misjudge or change your views about this girl. She is just carrying out a role but i believe she’s really a nice and sweet girl in person, pretty much how she portrays her character in the show :)
The show for once, made me feel young.
Well, i’m 24, i know it’s not that old but hey, you’re only a teenager once so watching such teen flicks makes the heart and mind all fuzzy once again. Like how “You Belong To Me” - Taylor Swift’s music video does to me.
Yes, i’m a discreet Taylor Swift fan ok. ANYWAYYYYYYY,
Hey, i’m not a critique whatsoever. I give a light overview of what i may think of a show. I’m sorry, if you’re looking for in depth details and information; pure hard concrete critiques but i’m not that kind. I would like to keep things light and breezy alright. I know my market readers are the youths of these days so, i’ll make things colourful, pretty and maybe witty. Plus, i’m all about the local media scene, what comes by me; i’ll blog it!
PLUS HEY, i’m close to most of the celebs; you guys dig those behind the scenes, unglam footages and all right!? HAHAHAHA.
ANYWAY, here’s the plugin for Cinta Ixora. Don’t forget to watch it alright! (making the poster below almost killed me, freezing and print-screening the video to capture the perfect shots of the casts are just, mind boggling and insane. Well, it’s not an official and perfect poster, but i hope it helps!)
Did you guys watched Testimoni the other day? Well, i did and i am freaking proud of Syarif trying to quit smoking. Well, a try is still a challenge but i think it did him well.
Very very proud of you dude!
Besides that, i missed the split second of my appearance on the show because why? I decided to grab a drink in the kitchen until my mum screamed in malay, “IZZZZ DUDOK DEPAN SYARIF EHHH?!” which means, “IZZZZ YOU SAT INFRONT OF SYARIF IS IT?” Well pretty much yeah, so i missed it.
Dang.
Here’s a random printscreen that i got off youtube. Thanks Aai! My 1.5 seconds off fame.
Anyhoo, have you guys voted for AnugeraHitz.sg? Well i have as a matter of fact, i vote daily (i shall not mention how many and who am i voting for heh). I rallied my friends, clients and much more to vote! hahah
As mentioned earlier, in-lieu to AnugeraHitz.sg that is going to be held on the 3rd of April, there are a series of shows called Hitz.sg. A preview of your nominees singing and interviews as it leads up to the actual show. These shows will be aired on the 13th, 20th and 27th March, 830pm on Suria.
I couldn’t attend the recording of the first episode because due to certain unforeseen circumstances but, photo credits thanks to Hyrul Anuar’s fan page for the first episode shots!
Recording for the 2nd and 3rd episode was a freaking blast! Despite the fact, the “A-Listers” were scheduled for those episodes, the crowd was wild enough when any artistes came on stage. Though, i wasn’t informed it was a mosh pitt setting, so i pity the “makciks” that were standing almost throughout the entire show.
I particularly loved the stage set-up, it was raw, an acquired “L” shaped design though but i thought the flashing led boards were quite overused haha but in all i loved the stage layout. Especially on how the band set up was separated from the main stage but yet it felt as one? Get it? Ok nevermind.
Though suffered from a few technical difficulties time to time but it was all good. The crowd cheered on the emcees and the artistes endlessly.
I particularly like MJ, the small kid that had a couple of small segments throughout the show by being a replica of a “kaypoh” reporter. I thought the idea of having him on the show was rather witty and mostly hillarious with his out of this world questions!
Sarah Aqilah came on in a lovely red dress as she sat on the grand piano belting our her famous single “Biar Hati Mencintaimu”. Her performance was mesmerizing just like how she wow-ed us with her vocals as usual.
Followed by the brother’s duo, Sleeq. What can i say, thank god they didn’t sing “Cun Saja” because honestly, that song sounded even more broken than a broken record should heh (whatever that means!). They sang “Sembunyi” it was a nice change and again Syarif vocals didn’t fail me at all (when does he ever??). Syarif emoted really well, and Alyph being the performer that he is gave the entire performance; as sleeq as their name carries. Proud of them brothers!
The hosts Fiza “O” and Fauzie Laily were hillarious. Though there were a couple of retakes from them, but it was all good. I love it on how they involve audience engagement after every segment.
Imran Ajmain’s performance, “Jika Engkau Pergi”, was haunting and nostalgic. I love his unique tone to his voice that is rather equivalent to those old school singers of the sixities. Different but yet amazing; plus this song is my mom’s favourite! haha.
He gives me the P. Ramlee vibes and it’s something refreshing in this era. It’s good too hear such sweetened lyrics and song that could be as legendary as P. Ramlee himself.
Oh yeah, not forgetting Syed Azmir. The crowd went wild with his single “Aku Bukan Sempurna” composed and written by Alyph Sleeq. I swore the moment i heard the song; i could identify as an identity of Magic Potions Pte Ltd without a doubt. It’s trademark was so distinct that it’s impeccable!
Honestly, i never expect Syed Azmir would end up in the R&B/Pop genre. Though his image will give me some adjustment time for me to encompass his vision in such genre but i’m sure much he’ll succeed in it.
Our Singapore Idols, Taufik and Hady (i almost typed Taufik and Batisah heh). OK, i’m a huge Idol fan alright (duh), nope i wasn’t a groupie or whatsoever because we’ve met each other through idol! Hady sang his chart-topping “Angkasa” which made the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs. Taufik’s new single, “Tiada Dua” is a huge love for me! I may not be the best person when it comes to Malay songs but i’m learning much from the Malay music industry as day goes on. Upon hearing, Taufik’s “Tiada Dua”, i fell in love with it immediately. I dig songs that relates both Malay and English together in it. In particular, Sleeq does them effortlessly. “Tiada Dua” is currently on repeat on my itunes heh, and that’s my second favourite song now cause my favourite song had always been “Selamat Malam” from Sleeq.
Uber dope yo!
There were other artistes from Didicazli, Shah Redzuan, Rancours, etc but i won’t spoil the bubble for you guys. Here’s a little MTV teaser for you guys of Hitz.Sg recording!
Ya know, i’ve got a million and one things to blog such as Glamor 2010 and much more. Maybe, i would do prediction on who might bag the awards for AnugeraHitz.Sg! As for now, thank you for your viewership to this humble blog off might. It might not be heavily densed with deep thoughts or provocating issues but it’s light enough for your entertainment! Will blog soon guys! Also thanks for following my twits!
Hello world, how you people on the African side doin’ yo? And the Alaskans?
Anyway,
I’m doing pretty fine today, again had meetings and random whatsnot in the day. Oh the blazing hot day. The distance i walked from the National Library earlier to Sunshine Plaza costed a trillion buckets of perspiration and maybe a liquidified part of myself. Well, the sun had always been the biggest bitch only when it’s scorching hot! Heh.
This was rather random, i was having a meeting at Wilkie Edge Starbucks earlier after printing my namecards. While the meeting was going on, hoping that it would end quickly because i need to rush off to Mediacorp for a media conference; the speakers at Starbucks were blasting uplifting new age and a little bit of Corrine Bailey Rae melodies. Out of the blue, a familiar tune broke the serenity of what it’s supposed to be.
It’s not a bad thing at all, the speakers blasted Moviestar - Sleeq.
Yeap, i was relatively stunned. Not because of the song, but more of the transition and the randominity(is there even such a word??) of it. I chuckled infront of my client for abit, but thank god she didn’t notice and i immediately (discreetly as well) texted Alif and Syarif about.
Doh.
Syarif doesn’t even understand what i’m talking about. Ouh well, meeting ended and i tried to hail a cab but these bugger China men (no offence to foreign talent) stole my cab. Which made me scream at the top of my lungs. GAH.
!#@$%^&%@#
Thank god there was another cab that came by soon after, but apparently drove like 15km per hour. I swore my hair grew an inch longer by the time i arrived at Mediacorp.
—————————
It’s been a while since i ventured myself into the world of media eversince Singapore Idol ended. Thanks to the kind people of Mediacorp Suria, i was given another opportunity this time. It feels like day one on Idol, where i don’t really know much people yet again because it’s a different production team this time. There were familiar faces that recognises me as the Idol blogger haha. No fret, i hope i did my networking well and thank god i printed my namecards! Though sometimes throughout the conference i was busy twitting to update you guys at home heh.
Without further a due, here are the nominees for AnugeraHitz.sg
Prior to AnugeraHitz.sg, there’s a series called Hitz.sg. A preview of your nominees singing and interviews as it leads up to the actual show. These shows will be aired on the 13th, 20th and 27th March, 830pm on Suria. The shows will be recorded on these following dates:
Episode 1: 28th February[Featuring Fauzie Laily, Fiza “O”, Maiya Rahman, Shahril Bahri, The Sally’s, Hyrul Anuar, Verbalize Flo, Sarah Aqilah and Zaibaktian]
Tickets are available at Mediacorp Reception on 25th February 2010, Thursday onwards. It’s on a first come first served basis. Tickets are limited because the recording is held in a smaller studio (not the theatre). Grab your tickets fast! If you ask what time? I’ll be there even way before the break of dawn!
I’d elaborate more another time about the amazing talent that we have and a little summary of the conference later because i’m dead tired right now cause i’ve been working on alot stuff on the laptop lately and it’s 330am. Before i go off, as usual when i’m invited to an event; my signature “Behind The Scenes” video will definitely be the highlight for all of my readers.
Without failing you guys, here you go! GOO’ NIGHT/MORNING!
