Achtung! Achtung! Never judge the silent exterior this dude carries. Once known, his personality explodes in a myriad of colours. Besides his love for design; he loves his friends to the core. Plight of an only child. Unfortunately, sometimes he is taken for granted because he's a damn wuss for friendship. Oh well.

Project Hope 2010, behind the scenes!

Project Hope 2010 is finally over, but well not entirely because the toll-lines for the donations are still open until the 28th of November 2010, midnight. Come’on, let’s continue to do our bit for charity and pick those telephones and donate generously. A little goes a long a way and quoted from DJ Denise Tan, “Why stop at once when i can do it again?” (one of the MediaCorp artiste that was part of the telethon for Project Hope 2nd year in a row)

Yes, this is the 2nd time we’re having Project Hope and a collective effort indeed. I feel so humbled upon seeing the different walks of life lending a helping to make this show a successful one in the name of charity.

Through an international language called music, the amazing singers did one thing but convey the message to one all, to help the unfortunate in this time of need. As we try our best to refurbished this victims lives and continue to head on a normal life. Call in and donate alongside a simple prayer for them.

Project Hope 2010, was quite an event because of the time constrain everyone of us were at our wits end doing so. We rushed and burned the midnight oil from production to management to event planning, it wasn’t an easy task but it’s all for a good cause.

The show was fantastic, beyond words could describe.

Yup, that’s most of us during rehearsals as we help to stand in as one of the tele-thon artistes. It was freaking hillarious as try our best to fit into the roles of our “designated” artistes. Well hey, in every work there’s definitely fun that comes along with it yeah? :)

I was standing in for Divian Nair, 987FM DJ. Dang, i’m “Hot”. MUAHAHHAHAHA.

(Thanks Mas for the pics! :))

Here are more pictures that went on after the event/show! Woot woot.

I miss Sylvia Ratonel and we’re glad we’re in this show together :)

And with Gabrielle Ferdinands + Sylvia Ratonel. Damn we were having our own catching up to do during the show haha. Awesome misses.

Alrighty, to end things off, here’s the finale of Project Hope as Taufik Batisah, Sylvia Ratonel, Ayu, Tomok, Petra Sihombing, Angel, Gabrielle Ferdinands, Roberto Fernando and the CLV choir as they belt out the famous hit from the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson - “You Are Not Alone” and the theme song of Project Hope, - “With Hands United”. Don’t stop here, pick up those telephones and donate :)

Rentak Cilik Aidiladha!

This time round, the Rentak Cilik team packed their bags and headed down to Negeri Sembilan to celebrate Aidiladha! Yeap, these kiddos including your favourite duo SleeQ (Alyph and Syarif) joined the rest of the team of Najip Ali, Rilla Melati, Fadly Awaludin, Suhaimi Yusoff and the Rentak Cilik team as they celebrate Aidiladha, KAMPUNG STYLE YO!

Definitely the shoot was an eye opener for the cast. I mean com’on we’ve been celebrating technically most of our festivals in the midst of tall boring looking buildings, day in and day out. A little bit of greenery and some domesticated farm animals can do some good haha.

I asked Syarif how was the shoot, in two words he chirped. “Tiring and Memorable”.

I wasn’t there, but i definitely couldn’t agree more with that. I’ve been to villages and such while i was a kid, boyyyyy it was fun despite the modernized society we are brought up with. So being a kampong boy once in a while, can be rather thrilling (and of course suaku). Here are some of the behind the scenes shoot of the show thanks to Miss Nura Abd Manaf of DUAM! :)

So do not forget to tune to Rentak Cilik Aidiladha, 17th November 2010, Wednesday 10am only Singapore’s MediaCorp Suria! Salam Lebaran! :)

Project HOPE 2010

I clearly remember last year, when Project Hope was being televised because of the Sumatran national disaster. I was still involved pretty much with Singapore Idol then and we were given this project at the extreme last minute of it all.

When it’s for charity, there was no second thoughts or so despite the hectic schedule we were given but it was all good, to do your bit. Definitely, Project Hope 2009, was quite a memorable for me and together with Idols of 2009 alike. A joint venture together almost 100 artistes for various channels and ethnic groups working hand in hand to lend a helping hand. Whats more, through a music event like this where music is the international language of love.

Here’s a video of last year’s Singapore Idol 2009 performance for Project Hope 2009. Singing, our fellow Asian Idol 2007, Hady Mirza’s winning number, You Gave Me Wings.

This year, Project Hope 2010 is back and definitely for a good cause, to cater to the needs to the recent Mount Merapi, Tsunami of Mentawai and Western Sumatra disasters that just occurred.

The recent tsunami happened on 25 October 2010 in Mentawai, Western Sumatra. The disaster was triggered by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake near a chain of remote islands off western Sumatra.  As of now, the official death toll touched 450, with 96 others missing, feared dead. The rescuers have managed to discover 135 persons, found sheltering on high ground and too scared to return to their ravaged villages.  However, the immediate efforts are now focused on supplying food and evacuating injured victims of the natural disaster that displaced more than 22,000 persons.

Mount Merapi in Central Java erupted on 26 October 2010, a day after the western Sumatran Tsunami.  Nearly 40 people have been killed since Mount Merapi began erupting last week.  Last Saturday, 30 October 2010, saw another large eruption.  Merapi has had 63 lava bursts and nine small gas emissions to date.To date, more than 53,000 people have been evacuated since the eruptions began last Tuesday.

Project Hope hopes to be part of the ongoing relief efforts being run in Singapore, together with NGO, Mercy Relief and contribute to the rebuilding of lives of these victims.

This year yet again, comprising of various artistes around with performances from Singapore; Taufik Batisah, Sylvia Ratonel, Roberto Fernando and Gabrielle Ferdinands.Friends from Indonesia we have, Angel and Petra Sihombing and from Malaysia we have Tomok and Ayu. Hosted by Khairuddin Saharom and Othelli Edwards

Here are the numbers to call in to donate:

1900 112 5010 for a $10 donation

1900 112 5050 for a $50 donation

1900 112 5100 for a $100 donation

Lines are open from 13th November 2010 until 28th November 2010, midnight.

Let’s work together hand in hand, as we help those in need. With that, i end this post with the theme song for Project Hope, Hands United :)

ANUGERAH SKRIN YET AGAIN!

Amazing enough, Anugerah Skrin for Group B this time round did extremely well. I was surprised myself, with the quality they showed on screen. It was hard to find any flaws, but a review had to come by no matter what.

Here are my two, three cents worth of what i thought (better late than never!)

The theme adventure carried on for Group B, and in the first group consists of the individual images above. The scene had the cast going on some kind of a trekking expedition which led to blood tracks and, TREASURE. Ok more off just money, but hey adventure much yeah. Ariff plays a calm group leader, that portrays leadership qualities and a very much confident persona. His portrayal for such confidence and relaxation pulled off really well. What strikes me the most was his body language and delivery. I say, given the judges advices last week, he certainly did some study and became rather quite top-notch this week.

Jasmine on the other hand did a pretty decent job. It was definitely better than last week. Her role required her to be scared but yet keen on thrilling adventures. Though in the beginning, her facial expressions came off over the top but as the scene advances, she did gain much confidence, lesser jitters and over-reacting. Like i mentioned earlier, there wasn’t much flaw to indicate this time round! Even the over-reactions of one another came off, rather mediocre.

Nasriah, played a concern friend to the whole team. The previous round, she did rather well with her speech and expression, she was consistent this time round as well. She came off sincere with her portrayal of her role.

Aidil, played an authorative role of wanting things to be done his own way. The cocky and stiff up the lip role portrayal was way better than the previous round. As much, as he is the black sheep of the team, he controlled his arrogance and emotions relatively well without any exaggeration. In all the team did well, but certain flaws that shine out were how pretty girls looked during such a heavy expedition, with everything prim and proper (make up included haha).

The one who did well in this group: Ariff Salleh

The second group, did the best to my opinion. Plus, it was my favourite scene. Though, i really thought they’d go wall-climbing because the set were all ready for some aerial adventure haha, but i guess its pretty just a set; untouchable.

The story goes on on Syirah and Erwin; two manipulative humans, crazy over money. In particular, Syirah’s fiance. Syirah and Erwin plotted murder schemes and such to kill off Syirah’s Fiance and this conversation was overheard by Diana, an innocent victim. I swear to god, Syirah and Erwin did so effing well that their evil looks and body language made me actually want to kill them instead! I say it was really good, and i got no words to describe it.

Diana, was also consistent as last week, good but not yet perfect. Seriously, the second group did ultra well that i can’t seem to find any flaw in their acting, except for the non-usage of the wall climbing set.

Guys, as much as you’re reading this, don’t be complacent. The best part when Syirah pulled Diana’s face towards her, impeccable! :) Though i thought Erwin had oneeeeeee tiny awkward moment because his expression changed from coniving, to his vulnerable innocent (good looking self) in a split second but the flaw was so minimal that i guess, no one actually caught it? haha.

The one who did well in this group: Syirah Jusni and Diana Amran

The third group did a pretty awesome job as well! (no trust me.. this week’s group were all really good). It was such a funny scene somehow because Firuz, Fadzli and Aziela who were comrades in arms of stealing a car and the car wasn’t even in the best condition! Come’on grab a Maserati or something! heh

ANYWAY, when the car broke down, the two male leads of the scene broke out into a fiesty argument. Their expressions for the both of them did mighty justice! The fight was intense and i thought Fadzli improved tremendously this time round. Firuz and Fadzli exchanged arguments in their best energy they could. Aziela who played the peacemaker, did her role without any problem at all. She improved way much since her last round from being patchy but now she came off relax, stern but yet portrays her role with confidence through her facial expressions, delivery and body language.

The one who did well in this group: Fadzli Mohamad

All the three groups this time round did extremely well without a doubt. Their chemistry were strong and the confidence level were raised. I guess, in all everyone do believe that this is a competition afterall. Behind smiles and joyous laughter, they should always know that this a fight for their own win no matter what. I can’t wait to see what group A has to show next week!

——————————————————-

(An overdue entry)

I couldn’t attend last week results show due to work commitments, however i managed to watch the show on television recorded by my friend! Thanks Adil! :)

I swear, watching on television is far much different than viewing it live. The nerves and jitters were lesser at home, and of course you wouldn’t see the fuss of set transition and whats not.

Kicking the show was Kunjung (looking extremely hot) singing “Di Manakah” accompanied with the contestants parading around her, with a TORCHLIGHT. HAHA, the prop each of them carried was effing hillarious oh well, i guess by looking suspicious with the ambigous torchlight gave an impression of the theme “Adventure”. Also, what i realize; ADVENTURE = Army coloured clothes; such a stereotype ok? From VT’s to even the live shows they were cladded in dark green, khaki, black, etc. OH WELL, i guess that works for the “layman”.

The guest judge this time was Ariati Tyeb Pagar, an established actress in the drama scene.

One of the judges, i can’t remember who mentioned on how Seri Wahyuni Jaes gave acting examples during the scene of Fahmy, Shahril and Halimah. I did saw it during the VT and yes, Seri Wahyuni gave her best, even so just to portray an example. Which i think is lacking in all of the contestants. You put your heart and soul in your role and sometimes it requires you to look ugly but if it fits the role, by all means carryout.

The contestants have yet to think out of the box and deliver their lines and roles creatively than pretty much stereotyping themselves of what they see on screen or embedded in their heads. Right now, its pretty much what they see, is what they do. We don’t need parrots in an acting competition.

I do believe, it’s still in the early stages of the competition but they are selected from the whole group that auditioned so i do believe as well that the judges or the media see something in them but i do hope they deliver it all out before it’s too late.

The ones that got eliminated were Nissa Bahruddin and Muhamad Fahmy.

I was ultra surprised that Nissa was given the boot because she was one of the contestants that has an extremely positive personality and is always eager to improve herself but yet again, all these weren’t shown on screen. Though i personally thought that Nissa wasn’t the worse of it all and there’s so much yet to be discovered from her. As for Fahmy, his performances had been shakey, as much Rilla said he has such a pretty face from any angle but he didnt use it to the advantage i guess. Unfortunately, these two were given the red card and their Skrin journey ended last Friday.

There’s one thing i’m bothered with is that, these contestants have yet to discover themselves the reality of a competition. They shed tears for another, because of a simple reason; they’re close to one another. As much as life goes on, we forge a bond with one another; do remember… the competition continues. Each and every of the contestants are hidden rivals. I know, its horrible to see your friend leave the competition weekly but its the truth of such shows. Bear in mind, sadness drops by for only a while but remember those who are still standing, you are still given the chance to shine and YOU ARE TO BEAT THE REST DOWN.

Not everything is about friendship and the pretty little things in a competition. Work hard and play smart in such reality shows.

Anugerah Skrin 19th May Review :)

I managed to catch the repeat of Anugerah Skrin, and without a doubt; thank you Suria for the repeat (like finally heh). The theme that was brought throughout in all the scenes was, Adventure. Funny, it seems as though all the scenes were filmed somewhere forested, can’t they have, i don’t know a scene where it’s rather urbanized?

Here are my two cents worth;

Group 1: Raja Razie, Nissa Bahruddin, Muhammad Dzar and Mariah Mahfar

I’d say, i don’t really get the scene that well because i was wondering, are they in somekind of reality gameshow given with their red envelopes and code words such as “biru” and “merah”. I was quite baffled with the scene itself but i guess what matters most is their acting portrayal.

For first group, i’m particularly impressed with Muhamad Dzar in all. His delivery, and emotions were rather spot on to some point and was convincing that he was playing the innocent evil character. His raged was controllable and not too over the top. As for Raja Razie, his acting was pretty decent and commendable but somehow, i’m worried that given his natural facial expressions, might give the wrong impression. Yes, he delivered his lines, yes he put up quite a fight for the male contestants, but somehow or rather, the stern outlook he portrays can be quite difficult to handle. Say, given roles that requires a softer image, would he be able to carry it out well?

The females, Mariah Mahfar and Nissa Baharuddin did put up a battle of somewhat two bad female characters. Nissa Baharuddin remained somewhat consistent from her last scene two weeks back which is a good thing, but somehow or rather i do hope she’s given a role where less angsty and conniving expressions involved. As for Mariah Mahfar, her acting was pretty good. She was able to control her emotions well and wasn’t as patchy as the previous scene.

In all, the scene was pretty decent. Though editing wise, was a little choppy because transitions of emotions from each character varies widely at times causing the actors/actresses appear angry at one moment, and going extremely furious the next. Well, can’t be blamed since i know there’s a million and one takes to get that perfect shot.

The one who did well in this group: Muhammad Dzar

—-

Group 2: Muhammad Fahmy, Halimah Yahaya and Shahril Kahar

Yet again, the scene settle in some forested area leading to a dilapidated beach. I thought Halimah Yahaya’s role was extemely challenging. Given the fact that her last scene, was ultra minimal. This time round her role was brought to another level. In the scene, she was running away from Shahril Kahar, through the bushes and whatsnot. Impressive, and thrilling much. The sweet girl portrayal she had in her last scene, immediately changed this week with a much aggressive outlook. I thought she did pretty okay, though a little choppy once or twice.

She hurt her leg somehow, i guess it was a sprained cause there wasn’t blood but until Muhammad Fahmy mentioned there was a scar, which made me quite, “HUH?” She carried out the damsel in distress role pretty decent, but could be better. As for Muhammad Fahmy, his role puts a huge question mark on me. Without a doubt, in the beginning, if he was supposed to hide his look as someone with an ulterior motive, he failed terribly. You can tell, his appearance behind the trees, the fast glances the camera took; he can come off rather psychotic. You just know that he’s up to something, i guess that’s quite a bummer because the element of surprise wasn’t there. Which in the end yes, he was some Inspector.

Well, i thought he should have just played the role on how concerned he should be when Halimah ran towards him for help, but it came off rather, how do i say this.. untouchable and cocky. Oh well, as for Shahril Kahar i think he did quite well with his role. His facial expressions were really good, and there’s nothing much for me to say except for the fact when Fahmy defended Shahril at the knifepoint looks rather stiff and awkward.

The one who did well in this group: Shahril Kahar

—-

Group 3: Biwa Mastura, Mohamad Idris and Sakinah Rahim

The last group i thought did really well. The scene was intense and challenging except for the fact, yet again it’s filmed in some ulu-forested area -.-

Though in the beginning the car scene was little off and awkward but as the scene progresses i thought the 3 of them did really well. Mohamad Idris, the hero of the group did way better than his first scene. His expression of concern and aggression when Sakinah was shot did gave out the right vibe and look. Sakinah Rahim, the victim, who was shot during a robbery the 3 conducted, came off like any vulnerable victim, in a daze, lost and in pain. Fantastic i say, though she was looking a little bit radiant for a gun shot victim heh.

Biwa Mastura, who i think improved tremendously from her first scene came off a little bit patchy in the beginning but gradually she did amazing. Her expressions and emotions came off really good on screen as much as how a jealous but concern friend should be. I thought the end of the scene was rather dramatic and convincing when Sakinah died and the other wailed upon her death. Which is oklah, melodramatic but hey it’s adventure afterall.

The thing that made laugh about the scene was that, Sakinah was already shot, bleeding and on the verge of dying, and they’re still fighting about the love triangle they are in. HAHAHA, i swear, if i was in that situation, i’d scream my lungs out, “COM’ON PEOPLE I’M GONNA DIE!! SHOW ME SOME LOVE MANNNNNN!!!”

The one who did well in this group: Muhammad Idris and Biwa Mastura

There you guys, we shall what’s in store for us this Friday for the results! :)

Here’s the video for their voting numbers, vote wisely guys! :)

Anugerah Skrin 14th May Eliminations

This entry came in quite late but i guess, eliminations reviews are better late than never since, there’s no time frame to vote after eliminations. Like any other reality shows, when it comes to cutting down the amount of contestants, causes extreme tears and whatsnot especially those who had forge bonds and such.

For group B, the red card was given to, Sarah Anissa and Alfhian. Oh well, yet again i didn’t expect these two at all. They weren’t the worse of the whole lot i guess. Well, 50% public votes and 50% judges. Anything can happen, people of the world; vote wisely.

I do believe, Rilla’s Melati’s advice given that night pretty much stung the contestants to their wits end.

Quoted by Huda Ali, “Pedas tetapi, bernas.”

In regards, of being to caught up with fame and fortune, i guess acting is all about passion. Like any other arts related media, acting is definitely a craft. It’s the passion in you that brings out the role. You don’t mimic the script, you be the script (emotions included).

A little snippet of what happened that night.

Guest artiste for that night was Roze singing her latest single, Harum. I swear she’s like the Amy Winehouse of Singapore minus the druggie attribute of course haha.

Let’s see what’s in store for Group A! and come Friday who are the ones left from the cohort below.

13 May 10

Anugerah Skrin Group B shows it all!

Group B of Anugerah Skrin showed off their acting talents last Tuesday. I know this entry came off somewhat late but, better late than never and there is still enough time to vote that’s for sure! Apologies because i was busy renovating the past few days; intense drilling, knocking, hammering and whatsnot. Call me the handyman, cause yes i think i am! Haha.

Anyway, after watching the show late last night let me analyze and contribute my two cents worth.

I generally believe that Group B portrayed their acting skills better than Group A. Without a doubt the “Love” theme was supposedly this week’s theme for the skits but somehow i guess, like they say Love is undefined so there were a mix of scenes from fights, friendships and love related issues. Sheesh, LOVE *rolls eyes*

Last week, the girls kicked the boys butt without a doubt but apparently this week; i see a fair quality of pretty remarkable talent from both the boys and girls. Particularly, the last group that consists of Sarah Anissa, Diana Imran, Alfhian Dalan and Fadzli Mohamad. Especially Diana and Alfhian, i say they were good. The delivery and the emotive portrayal of their roles were pretty much a thumbs up! There were chemistry amongst each other in the group making it quite a nice scene to watch, despite it’s a tear-jerker skit, portrayed by Sarah (kudos, no eye-mos! haha :)).

As for the rest, Syirah Jusni, who was given quite a few lines for her role, managed to make do with her performance with excellent delivery, diction and emotions. I guess, it’s all up to the individual. That few minutes of screen on television, is all it takes to portray your best and i do believe, Syirah was a good example. By dramatic, doesn’t mean over-exaggerate. Tap into your inner emotions and deliver it. I’m no pro, but i guess, acting is all about getting sync to your role no matter how small it is.

Aidil Jufri, who has quite a likeable personality did sort off well in the beginning but somehow as the scene advances, the emotions especially facial wise depletes slowly causing him to be slightly nervous on screen. On the other hand Aziela Roza started off weak and came about well in the end though at times she came off looking rather confused. Erwin Shah Dawson were also uncertain about his role, i guess his anger portrayal came off rather confused more alike to a confused Aziela. Though he does remind me of Faizal Isa somehow haha.

Group 2, that consists of Nasriah Zainuddin, Firuz Khan, Jasmine Amira and Ariff Salleh were pretty okay, not spectacular but okay. Notable mentions went to Nasriah besides the fact she stands out because of her hijab but her emotions for her role was really good, stern but yet vulnerable at the same time. As for her competition, Jasmine, didn’t really deliver quite well and patchy emotions. There wasn’t much consistence with her portrayal. Ariff, the playboy of the scene did mighty well, the smirks he gave, of course achieving to be the villain of it all (evil laughters). As for Firuz, i swore his eyes wander around so much, i feel like plucking those eyeballs heh. Ok la no offence but yeah, to maintain eye contact is uber important, emotions were so-so but with his uber-arched eyebrows when he gets angry, that scares me. Well, i guess that’s pretty good haha.

In all like mentioned, Group B did pretty good, but it’s up to the public. Kudos to the contestants, theres alot room for improvement that’s for sure and like i mentioned before; MARKET YOURSELVES! :)

Anugerah Skrin (Finally an update!)

*dusts off virtually cobwebs*

This is insane, but i’ve not touched this blog for ages and honestly, i apologise sincerely from the bottom of my heart because of the lack of entries. I’ve been busy re-collecting myself, sashaying in some work and whatsnot. I’m all geared up for a couple of entries tonight.

I do feel that my writing feels a tad rusty right now, but whatever it is here’s an entry that is way due, over the top; DUE. Hurr.

I attended Anugerah Skrin auditions last month (yes it was last month!) and the response for it was pretty decent. If you’ve been following my twits, i uploaded pictures and messages live the other day. I remember clearly it was a rainy Saturday, but that didn’t stop the line of youngsters giving their godforesaken a shot at fame.

As i walk around, trying to spot anyone with the X-Factor, i came across some friendly ones, some really over friendly ones (like chill yo) and those quieter ones. Well, for sure i believe that if you want to step into the media industry, personality is the number one choice but i guess it’s too early judge. For those over friendly ones, maybe taking a step back with the “over-enthu” factor and go a little mellow would be good.

Some recognises me from Singapore Idol and to those who hollered, very nice to meet you as well. To that particular fella whom waggled my bag and said, “Kau yang tulis tulis tu kan?!”, that made me laugh so bad but hey at least your approach was a memorable one for me! haha.

The procedure was pretty the same as compared to Singapore Idol. Queue, registrations, wait wait wait wait and more waiting. I mean, how “complicating” does it get. I actually did a video, but damn it, the file got corrupted! Anyway, after the long wait outdoor, these potential stars were hurdled into the audition room with a teeny weeny scrip to memorise.

That’s where the nerves comes in, knocks in or even rolled in; in many ways. Here are some pictures of the auditions and of course to those that received the golden tickets to the next round, HURRAY! for those who didn’t make it, i’m sorry maybe you could do better the next round.

Maybe, minus the braces for some hehe (no offence to those affected :P)

I’m attending the Media Conference tomorrow for Anugerah Skrins reveal of it’s Top 24! Hurray! Let’s see what the bunch is like :) As usual follow my twits @izked!

18 March 10
